Traxxas Rustler is AWESOME and Amazingly Durable!
I bought this as my very first hobby rc car. I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

To start off, this car is INCREDIBLY DURABLE! I have rolled it, jumped it, smashed it into trees(accidentally), and done donuts to no end, and so far the only part I have broke was the front wheel carrier when I smashed into a board.
It is very fast but very easy to drive.
This car is the most fun I've ever had!

Please know, however, that the stock Titan 12T motor WILL burn out. So please be prepared to buy either more Titan motors or the Velineon Brushless system.
My Titan 12T motor burned out, so I figured it was useless to keep buying more of them. I purchased the Velineon brushless system, and now the Rustler will pop wheelies on command! AMAZING!

My one and only gripe is that the rear tires wear down really fast, so you will have to buy more tires. (I would buy the Monster Jam tires!)

Great toy!!
The Traxxas Rustler is a great truck for beginners to experts. It's SUPER durable and really fun. I've flipped it countless times and it has been fine. I had some trouble with the included battery. It only charges for about 6 to 7 houres but the manual says it has to charge for 8 and half hours - but it doesn't affect run time at all. In all, it's a great truck and I highly reccomend it to any one who is interested in getting into the RC hobby!
A great car for RC enthuisasts
This car is a ton of fun, very durable and easily repaired with spare parts if you break something. It is great for doing jumps, drifting and all-around dirt racing. It charges with in 30-45 minutes, has great shocks and is definitely waterproof.

Great truck, better value, very durable
My boys (8, and 10) drive these trucks hard. They have a skateboard ramp they use as a jump. These trucks launch into the air and have taken quite the beating. We did kill a spur gear, but that's only because the tranny had loosened up unknowingly. Duratrax does say to check the tranny mount screws for tightness every so often. Oh well, only a $3 part. Overall this is a great truck. Don't bother with the Walmart or ToysRus R/C cars. This truck uses the same batteries and parts the big boys use, but in a beginner package. I would recommend an extra battery and 15-minute quick charger. We get around 10-12 mins of full throttle running on 3000mAh batteries. Overall, 5-stars, highly recommended.
UPDATE: Dec 13, 2012 - These trucks are still going strong. I've had to replace the motor on one, an A-arm, and a pinion. I wouldn't say this is any fault of the truck or manf. My boys drive these things rough! We began using 7 cell batteries (probably why the motor went out) for extended run...

Can with stand kids
I wanted to get my kids some thing beyond the toy RC cars but I did not like the 200 - 300$ price tag I saw out there. Then I saw one of these at a local hobby shop. Great Ready to drive Car. A 9 and 10 year old have just spent two solid days doing just about any thing that could be done to them. Very good deal for the money and my poor Blue Heeler is worn out. One Issue, get extra battery packs and a rapid charger cuz a 3 hour wait for a child is for ever or so they say over and over again.

this is just my opinion. take it for what it's worth
i have bought 3 duratrax units. 2 buggies and a truck. they are all very similar. the trucks are pretty much the same as the buggies with the exception of bigger tires and wider control arms and the gearing is different because of the tire size. most of the parts are interchangeable. the shocks on the truck are bigger.
i bought the original buggy to bash around with in my back yard. then i bought the truck and another buggy for parts.
the shocks break fast. they are very poorly made. of coarse, when you buy new ones you have the option to upgrade to the aluminum shocks that are built for these (add this up).
the motors smoke pretty fast (i always break mine in and use a smaller pinion to try and save the motor). at 15-20 bucks a pop, they get pricey fast.

my point is, after you add up the stuff that's going to break right away, the price gap between this brand and the better brands, such as traxxas or...

Fun in a box!
This thing is a BLAST! Right out of the box it has detailed instructions on many activities including maintenance and adjustments. Everything is included, the only thing you need is your hands and something to open the box with. As expected with any Team Losi kit, it's very good quality and the instructions are top notch. Team Losi says "no sand action" but I disagree. I ran mine in fine dirt and even piles of dust and it's just fine. Clean it regularly and it will be good to go!

As for durability, I have yet to break anything. The steering "turnbuckles" are very thin transparent pieces of plastic and are flimsy. A couple people have reportedly broken these. I have yet to do it but there are numerous ways to fix it including fabricating your own small piece of plastic to replace the stock units. Not hard and I'm sure someone will come out with an aftermarket unit soon if one hasn't been released already. Even if mine had broken I couldn't complain about it. They're easy to...

extreme fun in a box
i did not buy mine from amazon but that shouldn't matter because this is so damn fun i have had many other bigger rc toys that where fun but could only use them in in large areas to have fun. with this thing you can turn your living room, bedroom etc... into the most extreme track or obstacle course that you could not of ever thought possible i even made a couple jumps and a corner quarter pipe which is the most fun of all (you should try) and i have never bin so enter tained in my life
the only problems i have had so far was striping the spur gear and loosing a tiny screw
i suggest getting the the ball bearing's as a good upgrade and stiffer springs. Also if you want more speed and longer run times i suggest you get lipo battery.
And as a very good tip you should order some spare parts that you think you might loose or break (very small parts).

Small car fun
This tiny truck is fun. It is almost too fast for my small house. Looks a little fragile, but nothing has broken so far. It looks like almost all parts are available for replacement, so no worries even if it does. Running time is about 15 minutes for a 20 min charge, less time if you run it hard. Long enough to have fun, not so long I get bored. It has one minor flaw, you have to take the body off to recharge. The mfr should have made the battery charger easier to connect and/or they should have made it so you can swap out the battery quickly and easily. As it stands it requires taking off the body and then removing a small panel with 2 tiny screws. I guess it saves me money... no point in getting a second battery, to difficult to swap out. Despite my gripes it is very fun and entertaining. It low speeds it has turning radius of about 18" so you don't need much room. With practice and the right surface you can power skid a tighter radius.
