Wow, unbelievably bad
The treads barely turn. The scoop can barely be moved up and down because the joints are so stiff. It is so light that it tips over if you just brush up against it. Stay away from this at all costs.

Disappointed in toy
Paid good money for this toy. My grandson had it two days since Christmas and the sound is not working. It is definitely an indoor toy, which I thought would be for outdoors. Sorry I bought it. For the money it isn't worth it.

overall this toy is good except for the crawler tracks staying in place. it is not a durable as i'd hoped for play in a sand box but for an inside toy it is good.

My son loves cars and was so thrilled to open this toy on Christmas morning! He particularly likes taking it apart and moving all three pieces separately.

Good little realistic excavator! Great price for Bruder!
This is one of the smaller, lesser priced Bruder vehicles. But a perfect size for a 3.5 year-old. Well made, German made. Easy to store unlike some of his Bruders. Perfect companion to the mini steam roller. Some of the parts are a little fragile, though. I would try this one out before you invest in a more expensive Bruder toy.

My 2 yr old LOVES this!
I gave this to my 2 year old boy for Christmas and it is above and beyond his favorite toy. We have only had it 4 days, but I will still rate it as a very durable toy. I really expected it to be broken by now, with all the moving parts and such. It is still in good shape and it has been played with a LOT. I will buy more Bruder toys. I am very happy with this one.

My 5 year old son has had his excavator for a week now and it seems to be a great quality product. No pieces have fallen off, broken, or came loose (and my son is not easy on his toys). Great product for the money.

Caterpillar Excavator, neat toy - does not work well in dirt
I bought this for our 3yo son who loves heavy equipment and digging in the dirt. This is a cool toy as far as being a pretty good replica of a real one but it does not work well in dirt or sand. Fine sediment gets caught in tracks and after a short amount of time, the tracks quit turning. Then the handles on the arm do not move the bucket well. My son has since ripped off the tracks and does not do any digging with it but still enjoys pushing it around. Don't buy this if you want your kid to actually dig dirt, it would be good inside toy or outside but away from dirt or sand. But, I think it was intended for playing in these areas, so the rig is not that well designed.

This is a well made detialed model/toy I bought for my 3 year old son's brithday. He likes it very much. He does understand that it is plastic and he must be "gentle" or it will break. It is fine for indoor use but I do not think it would hold up outside in a sandbox very well.The hydrulic ram on the boom comes loose or out with aggressive use. I think if the child is not to rough on there toys and doesn't take it in the sandbox it will last a long time, my son is very much taken with it.
Broken after 3 days
My son is obssesed with excavators and if ever there was one made out of durable material it would be great fun for the kids. But I cannot find one that will actually dig up dirt. I like that this one didn't have batteries or sounds, but unfortunately it also didn't have any durability either. The little hinge that makes the arm work broke within three days of use. Bummer.
